MOTORSLICE Characters
A two-character story carried by P and Orbie — set against eight colossal industrial monsters. Here's the full cast.
P — The Slicer
| Role | Protagonist (player character) |
| Job title | Slicer (machine-elimination contractor) |
| Voice actor | Kira Buckland (fully voiced) |
| Weapon | Chainsaw (used for combat AND traversal) |
| Outfit | Yellow industrial jumpsuit |
| Personality | Sleepy, snarky, deadpan |
P is sent into the megastructure for what is briefed as a routine extermination job — “get in, eliminate the machines, get out.” She quickly discovers the structure is far larger than expected and the job becomes a multi-day climb through eight chapters.
P is the entire emotional anchor of the game. The 30+ “slacking scenes” — short voiced moments where she takes breaks, looks at the camera, makes selfie poses, or gets annoyed by Orbie — give her a personality far beyond the “silent action protagonist” archetype.
P is interactable in ways most action games would skip:
- Hold right-click to zoom on her face — she blushes (“Tsundere” achievement).
- Shine the flashlight in her eyes — she reacts.
- Poke her face on the main menu enough times — she quits the game.
- Press 1 to enter selfie mode — full pose system.
Orbie — The Orb Drone
| Role | Companion / utility AI |
| Type | Malfunctioning orb drone |
| Mobility | Floats, follows P, can be thrown |
| Combat | Throwable projectile vs. enemies |
| Vulnerability | Can be killed by P (achievement) |
Orbie is a small floating drone that partners with P at the start of the game. Officially “malfunctioning,” Orbie is responsible for puzzle-light interactions, screen prompts, and occasional comic relief.
Mechanically, when an orb is following you, you can parry-attack it mid-air to launch it like a projectile at an enemy (“We are here for you!” achievement). You can also destroy Orbie entirely by lowering the camera and attacking through the screen — the achievement is fittingly named “Orbie Hater.”
The dynamic between P and Orbie is one of the most divisive parts of the game per critic reviews — some find it charming, others find it grating (Metacritic critic consensus calls it “weird”).
The 8 Machine Bosses
The antagonists of MOTORSLICE are not characters in the traditional sense — they are colossal autonomous construction equipment. Each is the focal point of one chapter and acts as a climbable level.
- Dump Truck — Ch.1. A wheeled hauler full of sand. Front-mounted crusher one-shots the player.
- Helicopter — Ch.2. Saw-throwing aerial enemy. Most parry-friendly fight in the game.
- Fur — Ch.3. Bipedal mech with a drill arm and flat head. Largest boss of Act 1.
- Crane Train — Ch.4. Three-crane platform on a circular track.
- Double Excavator — Ch.5. Aggressive dual-bucket digger. Most weak points of Act 2.
- Combine — Ch.6. Long agricultural machine with center blades. Parry-to-topple gimmick.
- Bucket Wheel Excavator — Ch.7. The largest boss; the boss IS the level.
- Flying Train — Ch.8. Final boss. A train that flies. You board it from the front.
Each boss explodes into sand when defeated — a recurring motif tied to the megastructure's lore.
Voice cast
- P — Kira Buckland (confirmed on the official Steam page). Buckland is also known for 2B in NieR:Automata, Robin in Fire Emblem, and Jolyne in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure.
- Orbie / others — additional cast not officially listed in PR materials at launch.
