20 MOTORSLICE Tips You Wish You Knew Day 1
Sourced from Steam reviews, Reddit, and a full playthrough. No fluff.
MOTORSLICE looks simple. It is not. The movement is deliberate, the parry system is hidden inside the heavy attack, and almost every boss has a trick the game does not explain. Here are 20 things that will save you 2 hours.
| # | Category | Tip |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Movement | Sprint is your default. The base jog isn't fast enough for most jump distances. |
| 2 | Movement | Wall run triggers automatically when you jump TOWARD a wall mid-air. Don't hold direction into it. |
| 3 | Movement | Slide is your i-frame. Slide under saws and crushers — you can't jump over most of them. |
| 4 | Movement | Double-jump resets after a wall run, a chainsaw anchor, or hitting a pole. Use this to chain traversal across long gaps. |
| 5 | Combat | Hold attack = charged attack = parry. There is no separate parry button. |
| 6 | Combat | If something glows orange, you can almost always parry it — saws, blades, hooks, even some bosses' limbs. |
| 7 | Combat | Standing tentacle drones: parry their saw with a charged attack to cleave both of them at once. (Achievement: Crowd Control.) |
| 8 | Combat | You die in 1–3 hits. So do enemies. Aggression > caution. |
| 9 | Chainsaw | Chainsaw ‘anchors’ on orange surfaces — use it as movement, not just damage. |
| 10 | Chainsaw | Most weak points need a JUMP into them, not a run. Jump first, attack mid-air. |
| 11 | Chainsaw | If your chainsaw stops running mid-traversal, drop and re-press attack to re-anchor. |
| 12 | Bosses | Almost every boss can be parried. The Truck's wheels and the Helicopter are the easiest first parries. |
| 13 | Bosses | When in doubt, look UP — boss weak points are often above you, reached via poles, swings, or fans. |
| 14 | Orbie | When orbs follow you, parry-attack one mid-air to launch it at an enemy. (Achievement: We are here for you!) |
| 15 | Orbie | Don't kill Orbie unless you want the ‘Orbie Hater’ achievement — point camera at the floor and attack until the screen breaks. |
| 16 | Secrets | Press P on P's face on the main menu repeatedly — she quits the game. (Achievement: P-oke.) |
| 17 | Secrets | Hold right click during an idle scene to zoom on P, then click — she reacts. (Slack off achievement.) |
| 18 | Secrets | Press 1 to take a selfie. There's a full pose system buried under that one button. |
| 19 | Secrets | Shine the flashlight in P's eyes for an achievement. Yes, really. |
| 20 | Performance | On Steam Deck the game runs great. Default settings are fine; cap to 40fps for smoother battery life. |

The 5 mistakes new players make
- Treating the chainsaw as a weapon only. It's your grappling hook. Anchor on every orange surface.
- Trying to outrun bosses. Most bosses are climbed, not dodged. Get in close.
- Spamming light attacks. Charged (held) attack is your parry, your bonus damage, and your saw deflect — all at once.
- Standing in front of the Dump Truck. The crusher one-shots you. Always approach from under and side.
- Skipping slacking scenes. They're fully voiced (Kira Buckland) and unlock most secret achievements.
