How to Play MOTORSLICE

The 10-minute primer: controls, movement, chainsaw, parry. Read this before Chapter 1.

Default Controls (Keyboard & Mouse)

MOTORSLICE uses a standard third-person action layout. All bindings are remappable in Settings → Input. The two keys confirmed by the game itself (and called out in the official achievement guide) are 1 for the camera/selfie and right-click to zoom on P.

ActionDefault keyNotes
MoveWASDStandard.
SprintShift (hold)Hold for the full game; default jog is too slow for most jumps.
Jump / Double JumpSpaceTap twice in air for double jump. Resets after wall run / anchor.
Slide / CrouchCtrlSlide grants i-frames against low attacks.
Attack (chainsaw)Left MouseTap = light slash, hold = charged attack / parry.
Zoom / Aim CameraRight Mouse (hold)Confirmed — used to make P blush, etc.
Selfie / Camera1Confirmed by the game.
FlashlightFShine on P's face for the “Point that thing” achievement.
Interact / HackEUsed to activate hack symbols on bosses.

Note: WASD / Shift / Space / Ctrl / E are the conventional defaults; remap freely if your build uses different keys.

Controller is fully supported on PC, plus native PS5 and Xbox builds. Layout follows the standard third-person action template (face button = jump, X/□ = attack, triggers = camera / charged attack).

The 4 mechanics that actually matter

1. Wall Run

Jump toward a wall mid-air. P sticks to it for ~1.5s. You can chain wall→pole→wall.

2. Chainsaw Anchor

Mid-air, attack against an orange surface. P sinks the chainsaw in and rides it across the surface. This is your grappling hook — almost every boss requires it.

3. Parry (= Charged Attack)

Hold attack. Time the release against an incoming orange-tinted attack (saw, blade, hook). On success, the projectile reverses, often stunning the source.

4. Slide i-frames

Slide passes you under crushers and saws you cannot jump over. Use it as a defensive option, not just movement.

First 30 Minutes — Setup Checklist

  1. Open Settings → Camera → raise sensitivity if the default feels sluggish; enable invert if you prefer it.
  2. Settings → Audio → bump SFX (you'll need to hear saws to parry them).
  3. In Chapter 0 (Prologue), practice the chainsaw anchor on the first orange wall — jump, attack mid-air.
  4. In Chapter 1, test parry on the first drone: hold attack, release on its saw projectile.
  5. Don't skip slacking scenes — several achievements depend on them.
